Lisa Crumley is an emerging author, choosing to begin her writing career with a memoir chronicling the relationship with her first dog ever, Miss Bea. Having failed at obedience and agility, Lisa and Miss Bea threw themselves into the offbeat world of competitive nose work. Through it all, Miss Bea became life coach, offering lessons about ambition, obsession, love, loss, and letting go. Little Did I Know is a humorous story of coming of age at midlife, with a Beagle as the improbable guide to what it means to be human.
Lisa spent her early career in planning and branding for General Motors but elected to shift away from the corporate world. She went on to become an owner partner in a mid-sized marketing communications firm, Güd Marketing, a purpose-driven agency focused on purpose-driven change. After an early retirement, she pivoted to the writing life, tackling memoir and other forms of creative nonfiction, poetry, and fiction.
Miss Bea competed in nose work from 2012 to 2017. Before she retired, she became the first Beagle in the country to earn an Elite-1 title from the National Association of Canine Scent Work.
Lisa lives in Michigan with Loretta, a Beagle/Dachshund mix, taking long walks, attending workshops, creating mosaic, and, of course, writing. Little Did I Know: A Woman, a Beagle, and the Surprising Lessons of Canine Nose Work is Lisa's first book.
